History Of The Company

 

By the year 1989, there was a small paddy and chili processing unit belonging to the Kothalawala family at Thudugala Junction, Dodangoda. In fact, the business was carried out on a very small scale, merely as a social service. Mr. Aruna Kotalawala and Mr. Nirmala Kotalawala are brothers, with Mr. Aruna being a young undergraduate in the Faculty of Science at the University of Colombo at that time. Meanwhile,  Mr. Nirmala was a young undergraduate in the Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. They understood that the business was running at a snail’s pace and decided to convert it into a commercially viable venture.

 

Thereafter, the business was expanded step by step, introducing various products and new technology. New ground spice formulations were introduced to the market, and the distribution network was widened. As a result, the demand for Wijaya Products increased rapidly. As young entrepreneurs, they realized the future market trends for Wijaya Products and decided to construct a factory complex incorporating state-of-the-art technology for the mass-scale production of high-quality spice mixtures, pasta, pappadam, etc.

At the moment, more than 1240 employees are working in various departments of the organization. The secret behind the success story of the company is the dedication and commitment of the management and the employees at all levels to manufacture the highest quality products and market them at reasonable prices.

Wijaya Products (Pvt) Ltd was established in the year 1989 at Dodangoda , Kaluthara district with the help of one employee. Today it has become a renowned organization having more than 1240 employees. I am proud to mention here that, at present our products have been more popular in the local and foreign markets. The secret behind the success of the company is the dedication and the commitment of the board of directors, management and the employees at all levels, to produce and market the highest quality products as well as the feedback of our valued customers.I am always committed to uplift the welfare of my employees and to supply the best quality products to our customers at a reasonable price. I take this opportunity to pay my sincere gratitude to my beloved parents who had been the pillar of our success and the continued guidance and support of my own brother, have paved the way towards the successful business venture.

We have been working for welfare and educational activities for children in order to build up their skills and values. In addition to that social services and religious have been launched by the company to uplift the living standards. We wish to offer our value contribution to the community in the future too.

Everyone wishes for a healthy lifestyle and one of the most important factors to accomplish that goal is the food we consume. Driven by this belief, my brother and I made the decision to start manufacturing spices that support people in cooking healthier and nutritious meals.

Encouraging and promoting a healthy lifestyle was the driving force behind our decision, and we established “Wijaya Products” with that goal in mind. The name “Wijaya” holds a sentimental value and a broad meaning, as we chose it as a tribute to our family legacy. Acknowledging that we could not achieve our vision on our own, we have also motivated all our employees to work and embrace toward this shared goal.

From the very beginning, we’ve committed to utilizing high-quality raw materials and modern machinery to ensure the best quality products. All these principles have been key to the company’s growth from a one-person operation to what it is today.

Our company’s success is a testimony of the power of clear sense of purpose, strength of dedication and the commitment to quality. We believe that anyone with a strong purpose and the right values is capable to create something meaningful.

The distribution network is well established throughout the island to cater to our distributors. The sales promotional activities are also integrated with the distribution program & many outlets have been established in several major cities to provide an excellent, friendly, service to our valued customers. We distribute our products not only to the local market but also to the foreign market.

 

Local Sales Network

In the local market, our products are distributed to every district in Sri Lanka through distributors. More than 120 vehicles are used for distributions. Wijaya Products are available in all kinds of retail & wholesale outlets and leading supermarkets. Wijaya Products are chosen by more than 12 million customers in Sri Lanka.

 

 

Overseas Sales Network

We export our product to more than 20 Countries such as Australia, New Zealand, U.K, Italy, Germany, Cyprus, U.S.A, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Maldives and The Middle East countries. More than 43 million overseas customers taste our products in Worldwide.
